Hi, I’m Rebecca.

I’m a board-certified prescribing psychologist. For more than 20 years, I’ve helped women, girls and gender diverse folks understand their brains, navigate difficult seasons of life, and figure out what was getting in the way of feeling like themselves. A few years ago, I decided to go back for advanced training in clinical psychopharmacology because I wanted to be able to offer another, powerful tool when it was the right fit. Sometimes that’s medication. Sometimes it isn’t. Either way, my approach hasn’t changed: I start by getting to know you.

My job isn’t to convince you to take medication, and in many cases I will suggest the opposite! My job is to understand what’s going on, help you make sense of your options, and work with you to find an approach that fits your life. In many instances that actually means we’ll be working together to reduce or eliminate medications that no longer fit your needs.

Care Rooted in Both Professional Expertise and Personal Experience

In addition to being a prescribing psychologist, I’m also a neurodivergent woman and mom to an equally neurodivergent kiddo. I’ve spent years sitting on both sides of the table, both as the clinician and as the parent trying to navigate our healthcare system which simply isn’t built for women, girls, or neurodivergent families. I know how exhausting it can be to wonder if you’re asking the right questions, seeing the right providers, or trying the right treatments. You shouldn’t have to figure all of that out alone.

That’s why I built my practice the way I did.

I created a deeply integrated model of medication management just for women, girls and gender diverse people. When we work together, you’re not just getting someone who can prescribe medication. You’re getting someone who will take the time to understand the whole picture, communicate frequently with your therapist and your primary care physician, explain the “why” behind every recommendation, and partner with you over time. I’m also happy to use my arsenal of psychological techniques to support you in reaching your goals. Whether we decide medication is part of your plan or not, my goal is the same: to help you thrive.

What Working Together Looks Like

Our first appointment is about getting to know you—not rushing to make a medication decision.

We’ll spend 60 or 90 minutes talking through your history, your symptoms, your goals, previous medications, medical history, and what makes you, you. If you’ve completed a psychological or neuropsychological assessment, our intake is a little shorter because I already know your story.

If we decide medication makes sense, I’ll collaborate with your primary care physician before prescribing. Colorado requires prescribing psychologists to work with an MD or DO primary care physician, and I think that’s one of the strengths of this model. Your primary care doctor knows your overall health. I know your mental health. Together, we can provide better care than either of us could alone. I’ll also reach out to your therapist. I want to know what they’re seeing, what you’re working on, and whether we’re all moving toward the same goals. Those conversations are one of the most valuable parts of my work, and they’re included as part of your care. Also, if you’re seeing a Solstice Psychology therapist, you should expect seamless communication as we will be able to connect regularly about your care.

Once we’ve agreed on a plan and your PCP has given the green light, I’ll send your prescription to the pharmacy. Then, we watch!

I usually check in within the first few days or weeks, depending on the medication and what’s going on. Sometimes everything is going beautifully and we simply keep moving forward. Sometimes we need to make adjustments. That’s normal. Once we’ve found something that’s working well, we’ll typically meet about every three months. Some women stay on medication for a season of life. Others stay on medication for many years. Either is completely okay. My job is to continue partnering with you for as long as medication is helping you live the life you want to live.

What You're Paying For

When you work with me, you’re paying for a comprehensive treatment model that includes things like:

Medication visits are never just about medication. Sometimes we’ll spend time talking about executive functioning. Sometimes we’ll troubleshoot panic attacks. Sometimes we’ll talk through a difficult transition at work or figure out why you’re suddenly struggling in perimenopause. In my opinion, understanding the context almost always leads to better medication decisions.

A Few Things That Matter

I believe you should understand your treatment.

You’ll never leave wondering why I recommended something. I spend a lot of time
teaching because I think informed patients make better decisions.

I don’t expect you to coordinate your own healthcare.

I’ll communicate with your therapist and your primary care physician so we’re all working
from the same plan.

I’m easy to reach.
If you have a non-urgent question, send me a message through the patient portal. I
typically respond within two business days, often sooner.

I think long-term relationships matter.

Finding the right medication isn’t the end of treatment. Life changes. Hormones change.
Stress changes. We keep checking in and adjusting as needed.

FAQ

No. Medication is one tool among many. If I think another approach is likely to help you more, I’ll tell you.

Yes. Colorado requires prescribing psychologists to collaborate with an MD or DO primary care physician. If you already have one who’s happy to collaborate, wonderful.

If you don’t, don’t let that stop you from reaching out. We keep a list of excellent primary care physicians who are familiar with my practice, enjoy collaborative care, and are often accepting new patients.

We’re happy to point you in the right direction.

Any woman, girl or gender diverse person between the ages of 9-65. Colorado law
requires a special authorization to work with people under the age of 18 or older than 65. I have the youth authorization. I don’t have the older adult authorization,
unfortunately.

We start with a comprehensive intake and follow-up appointments as we get your medication regimen where you want it. Once things are stable, we’ll usually meet about every three months to make sure everything continues to work well and make changes if your life or health changes.

The bill was signed into law in March of 2023, making Colorado the 6th state to support prescribing privileges for psychologists. There are now nine states that allow psychologists to prescribe.

I know there are many ways to receive medication care, and different models work well for different people. The practice I’ve built is for women and girls who want someone who takes the time to understand the whole picture, communicates with the rest of their treatment team, and stays alongside them as life changes.

If that sounds like the kind of care you’ve been looking for, I’d love to meet you.
